I have seen potatoes transported into a large food plant using a man made running creek where the railroad or trucks could open a hopper bottom and dump directly into the water. When they reached the inclined conveyor, they were pretty much mud and dirt free. Then they would go through a secondary wash system. A cheap way to transport some commodities.
I wonder if there's a guy that looks like James Taylor with a weird hat and a giant wooden sledgehammer at the end of the canal!

That is a pretty serious water flow rate. I wonder what is happening at the final end of that canal?
