Where to buy "soft" Morse taper blanks

Please don't all jump down my throat and tell me to make it myself. I am too much of a newby to turning.

Where can I buy a "soft" Morse taper. I can not find any here in SA pre made and wife visiting GB.

Want to make a adapter I saw on the site for a slitting saw.

You can by soft headed blanks for machining, RDG Tools in the uk have them in various sizes so I am sure they are available elsewhere.

Way too expensive for me. Can buy a small chuck for that price.
So watched a few Youtube clips and tried setting my compound slide using a dial guage. Problem is just by loosening and tightening the compound slide it adjusts itself.

Anybody made a fine adjustment aid for their compound slide?

Try tightening the compound securing bolts to the point where they are so snug that you can't move the compound with your hand but not yet fully tight. Then adjust the compound by tapping lightly with a small brass hammer or brass slug. When correctly oriented tighten securing bolts with wrench.

Hi Garage Nut. Your post was a long time ago, but maybe this can still help. I purchased my blank end arbor from Arc Euro Trade for GBP18.30. A relative living in Ireland brought it out for me when on vacation to the RSA. Here is my post on a slitting saw arbor: http://www.homemadetools.net/forum/l...112#post112533
Have you tried Toolquip and Allied in Port Elizabeth?

I could not find one and at the exchange rate it was not cost effective to buy in pounds.

Bought a 13mm chuck and arbor from Adendors and it is now dedicated to a center drill.
