Last fall I bought a box of disposable scalpel blades and wanted a nice wood handle to use them.

Thanks wormil! I've added your Carving Knife Handle to our Woodworking category, as well as to your builder page: wormil's Homemade Tools. Your receipt:

Good work on that handle. How long do the scalpel blades last?
Hello,
Great, I hate plastic handles too !
Diyer, you know what, you will say I'm quite stingy, but I always re-sharpen my (normally) disposable blades like Xacto blades or even heavy duty cutter blades. I actually rarely purchase new ones.
Glad I'm not the only one who resharpens scalpel blades Christophe :agree:
Nice work on the handle Wormil
Regards
Doc :hattip:
That's not stingy, Christophe! That's being frugal, and to me, that is an entirely different (and desirable) trait. I myself repurpose broke hacksaw blades into utility knives. :)
Looks like we are of the same mindset too, Doc!
Love the handle. Looks very comfortable to use.

Hello knife makers!
I am a newbie to this forum. So I am looking for the wood carving knife. I have seen lots of wood carving knife but failed to determine whicj would work fine for a newbie. Please help me with some reviews of wood carving knife.
I searched google and found this https://mechanicguides.com/best-wood-carving-knives/ , but I want to hear the opinions of professional knife makers.
I've only dabbled in wood carving and it was a long time ago. Given that, I would suggest that anything that you can find at Lee Valley...
Lee Valley Tools - Woodworking Tools, Woodworking Supplies, Woodworking Books for Woodworkers
will serve you well. Personally, I would avoid knives with replaceable blades; they have a tendency to shift when taking deep cuts.

It's a good idea to adjust your preferences so your location shows in your posts. Suggesting sources in the USA if you live on the other side of the world won't be very helpful.
