That is a pretty fancy wooden wood lathe. My grandpas old wood lathe is still hanging in a cousins barn the lathe is made out of a single 4x4 with a short piece of 4x4 bolted to it and 2 pillow block bearings with shaft through them, the tail stock is more of the same except just an all thread pointed on the end through the wood
