Interesting, and a talented creator, but I would have prefered to see the real thing rather than animation.

I am open to being convinced it is real, but I am skeptical.

Watch very closely from 15 seconds to 25 seconds. That hand just looks really fake to me. The movement at 21-23 seconds is not natural. At 25 seconds, would that chain be installed with NO lubrication?

I am open to being convinced it is real, but for now I am thinking animated.

That looks very real with so much detail. The cameraman's hand is to show scale. The timing chain, crank webs and other exposed machined surfaces are sprayed with a dry anti corrosion film (light brown) which will dissolve in lubricating oil. Why would they animate this?

There are just some things about the video that make me wonder about animation. As far as why someone would do it...because they can! Animation projects are now part of course work these days in graphics classes. The software available is very powerful. We can no longer believe everything we see and hear. A picture used to be with 1,000 words. Now photos, videos or audio recordings are all subject to manipulation.

I am certainly not disputing the existence of the massive engine. According to the title of the GIF, this is the same engine.
