There are just some things about the video that make me wonder about animation. As far as why someone would do it...because they can! Animation projects are now part of course work these days in graphics classes. The software available is very powerful. We can no longer believe everything we see and hear. A picture used to be with 1,000 words. Now photos, videos or audio recordings are all subject to manipulation.

I am certainly not disputing the existence of the massive engine. According to the title of the GIF, this is the same engine.
