The caption said space invaders, but they had similar tournaments for paceman, donkey kong, Mario bros. Tetrus, you name it if some fool invented a video game other fools played them and held tournaments. However there is at least some scientific data that suggests the video games helped to promote hand -eye coordination preparing future workers for mundane receptive assembly jobs among other things. Joystick simulator games play a huge part in flight training for one. Micro surgical procedures is another. there are many more reasons to plat those silly games as long as you eventually extricate yourself from your parents basement and seek out employment
