While on vacation in Spain several years ago this guy came up to me and noticed my belt buckle with the outline and flag of Texas on it. I'm not sure which country he was from as he was visiting Spain as well. His accent was mildly Slovak SO I suspected he was from somewhere from a country which used to be part of the old Soviet union. We got to talking about the weather in Texas how he had heard that in parts of it in the winter it could get down right cold and other parts in the summer it might be hotter than most places you could imagine. I let him go on explaining things he had learned about Texas it's history and its size. But then he just about floored me when he asked in all seriousness what part of Texas was America located in.
I said I think you have it the wrong way round While Texas is quite large and many of us from there like to think that America is just a part of Texas instead ot Texas being part of America.
TO which he responded back when I was in primary school we had a world map it showed Europe, Asia, India, Africa, Australia, Antarctica, South America, and Texas.
I almost burst out laughing at his memory of the map
