When I was younger, In the late 1960's, a guy in the city built a 40+ foot ferro-cement sailboat in his driveway. We live 130 miles from Lake Erie, which had access to the ocean though canals and the St. Lawrence Seaway. We are almost 500 miles from the Atlantic ocean over land.

Took him 5-10 years to get the boat to the point he could launch it. I lost track of how he got it to water and whatever happened to it.

I see a 54' cement sail boat listed as "Free to good home" online when searching for information.

My son is an engineering student at Mississippi State University. They have on display several canoes their engineering department has constructed out of concrete. Pretty neat stuff.

As a matter of fact, I believe that concrete that they use for the canoes was actually developed there on the MSU campus.
