Better than nothing, but the human body never react exactly like the crash dummy did. The feet would probably go under the bottom of the pillow then the person would be rolled under it..

I dunno, the first thing the "pillow" does is scoop up the dummies feet (pause at the 13 second mark) kicking out the center of gravity then it wraps around while the train is stopping and basically drops the body.

Pedestrian catchers have been tried since the 1920's so far none have proved to meet minimal safety requirements to cause them to be seriously considered as a viable way of reducing injury or death to the point of installing them on just about anything.
Air bags in cars would never have been made standard in vehicles without the lobbyist. Since without the occupants being properly belted in their seats the air bags can and do cause as many injuries as they prevent.
Most people who buy used vehicles don't know they may have an instrument of death right in front of them if that vehicle has not had a recalled air bag replaced
