1 7/8" die stock

Even though I do most of my threading by single point, if at all possible I like to have the taps and dies to chase or clean up the threads if needed.
In the case of having to make special threads such as NEF "national extra fine" like 7/8" 20 TPI and 1" 20 TPi My Greenfield 7 tap handle will hold the taps, but I didn't have a die stock for the 1 7/8" diameter die. I don't have a 1 1/2 a 2" or a 2 1/2 for that matter either and if I don't find a bargain on them, I will make them as needed I prefer Wiley & Russell / greenfield
I started with a piece of mystery shafting I had salvaged a dozen of so of these when I broke up a bunch of Highline stringing reels.

When possible I saw off the parts instead of parting on the lathe this shafting proved to be some pretty tough to machine stuff so why wear out my part off inserts

Plus it actually fits your dies. The last name brand die stock I purchased at work was no good out of the box. This is why I have DIY at home, at least I know they work.

Just because it is name brand doesn't necessarily mean it was made by the originators of the brand

I spend a bit of time everyday finding things on Aliexpress. Chinese Ebay basically. You would be shocked as to how many things are sold as made in the USA that are the identical parts available from China. Some of the larger OEM contract manufacturers even state who they make cutters and holders for. I found the guys that make all the Mitsubishi tool holders. And quite a few German brands to. They are not dirt cheap, but they are cheaper.
