Okay so that's an interesting one. They're running the bulb at about half its original rated voltage. Incandescent bulbs are incredibly sensitive to voltage. Life decreases proportional to V^-16 as voltage is increased. So they're running it at far less than the rated voltage, which will cause the light output and efficiency to fall off a cliff but the lifespan is increased an incredible amount. If you have a 1000 hour bulb that is intended to run at 240 volts but you run it at 120 volts, it'll last for MILLIONS of hours.
