1928 bird-shaped wing aircraft crash. This is the Bonney Gull, flown by its inventor who was killed in a crash during its maiden flight. 1:27 video:

The ratio of fixed to the movable portion of the horizontal stabilizer tail was all wrong the same thing with the wings the flaps were oversized for the size of the wings plus the spillage of air due to the upward inclination of the wings causes a lack of proper air flow over the horizontal stabilizer. would make an aircraft shaped like that difficult to control I flight making it all too easy to over compensate the controls.

It’s a bit of a shame as that design could be very beautiful with a few mods as almost suggested by Frank S.
