Did you boil the clamps in the linseed oil?
Never try to tell me it can't be done
When I have to paint I use KBS products

Do you have a kiln or oven? Or did you do this in a furnace?

I used a propane torch on an earlier attempt worked ok but slow,on these I have a piece of 10" pipe about 18" tall domed on top and a hinged door on front, set on a gas burner for a turkey fryer,I can quickly get a lot of pieces to 500+degrees .You could easily do this in oven or even toaster oven
