    Aligning Hidden Holes

Inside several couplers, I want to install a pin on one side and a corresponding hole on the opposite side. All holes must be the same distance from the center. I don’t want to measure anything.

    Rick,

You said that the pieces slipped "radially", I think that you meant tangentially or circumferentially.

I struggled with the proper terminology for this alignment. The center of my cylindrical tool is aligned with the center of the cylindrical part. Since it could be off along any radius, I figured that was radial alignment. I am not qualified to say that if this is clear to my readers.

    Rick,

Maybe this will clarify the usual terminology for the two types of displacement.

    Radially is ALONG a radius.
Angularly, tangentially or circumferentially is an angular displacement "A" of any radius about the axis.

Ah, then I am preventing radial displacement.
