Amazing new tool i reinvented the file

I hear a lot of people claim "amazing new tool". You sir, deserve to make this claim! Brilliant idea and first rate implementation. Of course, as soon as I saw your video, I knew I wanted one. While you have built a Rolls Royce, I have gone for a rusty 50 cc scooter:


I took one longer 2x4 block and rounded the end. This turned out to not be necessary. Rounding the corners would have been enough.

The shorter block was drilled through in 2 places with a #7 . Then I put this shorter block on the end of the longer block and drilled in enough to mark the longer block. Next, I drilled with a 1/4 inch down about 1 inch. I dropped a 1/4 inch ball bearing in each of the holes.

I punched two holes in the sanding belt that lined up with the holes I drilled in the shorter block. Then I ran two pieces of threaded rod down the #7 holes and into the longer block. This formed threads in the smaller block and let me apply tension to the belt.

The ends of the threaded rods contact the ball bearings making it easier to turn. Double nuts locked together let me turn the ends of the rods until the belt is tight.

Lots of room for improvement.

Hey thanks for watching back in the 90’s sometime when I first made my tool I did a patient search on my idea there was one sanding block that expanded it was ridiculously over complicated and nothing like my design

Thats a great design, congrats. I too have reinvented many tools to do a better job. Well before I knew of this Forum. I'm especially interested in you r inner assembly that keeps the inner tension of the belt.
...Any diagrams of the inner flip over lever. I'm not a plagiarist...just a Toolmaker that appreciated the effort relative to the result gained. Good Onya Mate.
