I do not think an angle grinder can ever be a precision tool but a guide is an aid to manipulation in use. I did think of providing two support pillars but that brings assy problems, I did ream the thro hole to 8mm and is a reasonable fit.
If greater accuracy is desired I have used a simple system like this in the past which is adjustable for play.

BTW that grinder is brand new and will stay with the fence (I hate disc swapping) I now have 4 grinders.

I experimented with adding a spring between the hub and the body of the angle grinder. The ends of the spring were coated with grease. The idea was to preload the spindle and remove axial play. It seemed to help reduce the play but my cut was still +/- 0.01 inches which is poor. I'm not giving up yet, but I must understand the sources of the uneven cut. My fence is true as is the bar clamped to the sheet metal that rides against the fence. My angle grinder is up-side-down like a table saw (https://rick.sparber.org/agts.pdf).
