A Canada goose strikes a Cessna 210, smashes a 2-foot hole in the windshield, and spreads blood and feathers all over the cockpit. Pilot with 28 years experience then lands successfully; neither he nor the passenger is injured.

This is one of those aviation emergencies that are sudden and unpredictable, and for which the recommended procedure is simple: land.
