    Thanks, I am curious... What kind of tree? How long had the stump been cut before that video? How long was the burn time?

    That seemed to work well. Some thermite would probably work well too.

    I have done this with several types of trees and shrubs. I don't recommend using gasoline though. Charcoal lighter is safer. It can take DAYS and several relights to get to the point of being able to scoop out ashes. For large trees I have added charcoal briquettes to keep the fire going.
