    I envy your acquiring a Dore Westbury mill, I always wanted one but could not afford the castings at the time.
    The one you have looks to be well made, a nice machine for the model engineer.

    Very nice - it looks like a heavy-duty, industrial grade version of the one I built a few years ago. This is my small one with an octagonal broach installed:

    Hi,

    A question about the choice of some dimensions, you have a relative short length to support the broach, on a too high speed accidently, it makes some vibrations and a less good interior finish with waves, when I made one time ago without your measures, with a longer distance between the ball and the set screws, it have a more stable use than the one made shorter now.

    What rpm speed do you use please ?

    It's really not to criticize your construction, just an observation in workshop use.
