In Akron, Ohio, USA, there is a hotel built from abandoned concrete grain silos of the Quaker Oat Company. Lots of concrete cutting involved in the conversion.

I stayed there once. It was certainly a very unique interior.

Working with so dangerous exposed spinning blades and long hair
    Quite freaking...
But the lady knows her job for sure.
And I must say personnaly that I prefer seeing skilled women using tools here than the puppets in bikini carrying fire weapons...
    Cheers !

    Impressive worker. Really nice toosh.

I can’t understand why she’s not covered in dust. It looks as though there is a feed for coolant, though. But it must be noisy. And I wonder how often operators are cut to pieces!

You can see "stripes" on the floor, ceiling etc. where the blades are throwing the coolant/dust suppression liquid, probably just water. It is very effective at reducing dust. If the water is directed at the proper spot, there is almost no dust at all, just a slurry running down the wall.

As for being cut to pieces, it is not like a saw blade where contacting your clothing or skin will "pull" you into the blade. The diamond blades not sharp at all, it would certainly wear a slot in your skin, but would take a while to cut anything off.

Exposed blades, no visible eye or ear protection, long hair (as was mentioned earlier) — a piece of cardboard appears to be the only piece of PPE. OSHA wouldn't know where to begin. ("Are those steel-toed sneakers?") But they do manage to get things done. And, yes — that gal can swing a sledge. A regular 1-gal work crew.

Thanks, Hemmjo, glad to have that clarified. Hosie, I wonder how long that process took? If it’s one girl, she’s got 3 changes of clothing!
