    Safety in the workshop.
I would be most comfortable padding about in stockinged feet. It’s plantar fasciitis. My previous GP never said anything about it, although it truly affects my quality of life, and only when I went to a new practice was a diagnosis made and exercises prescribed.
So I will hobble to the workshop in sandals. For gardening, I’ll wear safety boots. But since most of my activity consists of short shuffles, shifting weight from one foot to the other, these clogs are better than boots. Firstly, they protect the whole foot, not just the sole and toes. Secondly, I can just step out of them and into sandals again. Thirdly, if I step on hot metal, there’s no pungent fume. How well do they grip on tiles or Lino? I don’t know. I believe I am less likely to fall over wearing them, compared to sandals. But they are very uncomfortable to walk more than a few yards, owing to their rigidity.
They are made of alder, which is water resistant, and I got them from a charity shop.
