Craftsman Vise

Picked up this little Craftsman 3” vise from a yard sale over the weekend for $5.00, it’s one of those sliding jaw cam or friction lock type, it works fine it’s just that the jaws had a 1” deep cutout in them, I like a little step in the top of the vises jaws but not 1” deep, I know that one inch step was cut that deep intentionally to hold work up off the two ½” guide rods, but it was a reel pain in the azz to clamp something, so I made a couple new jaws with a 1/8” wide X 1/8” deep step in the top, the jaws were made from 4140 steel, hardened, tempered and ground.
