Is this anatomically accurate? Do our jaws really pivot that far back? Or is there a perspective issue with the camera?

would think so, mine pivot just in front of my ears, and most skulls (halloween decorations) can show you where the lower jaw pivots

I was trying to measure it with my fingers. I ballparked about 1.5" from my last molars to the joint, just in front of my ear. The picture looked much longer to me.
