    DIYSwede's Tools

    DIYSwede's Üniversal Mötor Kontrol

Given my 7x14" mini lathe electric lead screw drive (-Yet another mini lathe power leadscrew drive... For the love of ...) and the
    TPMDGM (DIYSwede's TPMDGM: A Flip-Flop ToolPostMiniDriil/Mill/Grinder for a 7x14" lathe)
there's a certain need for a PSU/ variable MCU combo to drive these and upcoming gadgets.

Raiding my stash of squirreled-away stuff I started out at the PSU end with a "liberated" SLA charger @ 30VDC and 5.6A tops:

it has since been improved with a smallish, silent cooling fan and its 12 V regulator and been bolted out of the way, to my bench side,

Having some salvaged electronic boxes, Al plates from scrapped computers, some recycled connectors, switches and fasteners,
I started out by ordering a 7 buck PWM regulator and a V/A-meter for another five dollars:

Box slotted at bottom and drilled up top rear for some ventilation, full plate cover on top and RH side,
where a couple of XLR chassis connectors sits, where PSU output/ motor connector is seen next to the motor snubber/ EMI filter.
Easily hooked for driving the TPMDGM, or hooking up another, separate MCU when TP milling with power feed.
All driven low voltage peripherals are, and will be having XLR connectors.
The whole shebang bolted to the motor gearbox, easy to see and reach but still out of the way.
Here at nominal drive power with closed half-nuts:

Not that much to it, really - but perhaps some food for thought?
    Any questions welcome.

    Cheers
    Johan

    DC Power Supply

Nice job on the power supply and motor control!
I am working on one very similar to yours. I don’t understand some of the acronyms and abbreviations you used as I am not an electronics expert by any means but I am slowly learning the hard way-by doing and making a few mistakes along the way.
    Thanks for sharing your work.
