We'll be on some form of chemical energy storage for air travel for a long, long time. Maybe hydrogen via ammonia, or synthetic carbon neutral efuel, but it'll be chemical for anything but "Pin It")

Max theoretical energy capacity of lithium battery chemistry is about 3x where we are now. Max practical is much less. That's still not even close to enough for air travel.
Real Engineering did a very good analysis of the problem.
