    Yep, I remember those 3D desktops, They were cool but really took a fair amount of resources to run.

    Yeah, not super useful either. It was a neat party trick though. Right now between my home and shop I probably have about 50+ Linux machines. I design robots and other odds and ends and it all runs Linux. It is spectacular operating system.

    Funny story, my mother used to mess up her laptop about once a week. I installed Linux and didn't tell her. It was YEARS of that thing just working flawlessly and she didn't even notice she wasn't on Windows anymore.

    I had a similar experience with my parents that you had with your mother and did the same thing to fix it. It worked and that's that.
