I suppose there was no way to stem the flow of natural gas at the wellhead? Close off the valve just enough to allow enough gas pressure to prevent the sea water from being forced into the pipeline, send a remote piloted submersible down to access the damage. In all likely hood it was a cracked weld seam if so a saddling clamp could be installed
