Many office workers I have met are totally ignorant of how even simple technology that they use everyday actually works and have some sort of mental fracture that prevents them from conceptualizing a process from start to finish.

Don't even get me started. I've worked with a lady would would print out an e-mail, retrieve it from the printer, walk to the scanner, press the "scan to e-mail" button, then scan the printed e-mail. THAT'S HOW SHE WOULD FORWARD E-MAILS.
