The way it was listing coming into the dock it looked as if the ballast pumps on the low side were either not working and there was a huge hole in the hull or they were working and couldn't keep up, Or and highly unlikely, they were reversed

The camera man was approximately as competent as the ship's Engineer. What a CF.

Ships and ferrys use water as ballast in compartments on either side of the vessel the amount of water as ballast in the tanks can be regulated to maintain stability when they are empty and adjusted from side to side to control list if a vessel has fractures or holes in the hull. Bilge pumps remove water from the vessel while ballast pumps transfer water from one side to the other, sea cocks or valves allow water to be taken on board,

Everybody knows what a ballast tank is, the funny part is you imagine that particular vessel has functioning tanks and pumps.

Given where it was being operated, your right it would be highly doubtful.

can't help but be frustrated by the crowd of dopes getting in the way of the trucks and people trying to get off the vessel in a hurry - we all know screaming like idiots help others make quick sensible decision.

That was painful to watch. Makes me wonder what it looked like as it left after being loaded. Having watched a number of videos from railroad crossings in south East Asian countries I’m guessing the unloading “process” is much the same...aka. total free for all. Not at all like the loading and unloading process of ferries stateside.

It didn't appear to me that there were many if any passengers top side, I don't see many folks scrambling to get off that thing, just trucks and a few people.

That tub was doomed every time it left the dock for the past thirty seven point two years.

When it left, port side looked newly rinsed off?
More correctly in THAT water, an even coat of silt.

Ships master certainly knew they'd been taking on water, but not much visible urgency as it approached dock. It's probable a parallel sand bar aggravated situation. If a few heavier vehicles were starboard side, once a few moved to disembark, game over.

Depth of water alongside dock somewhat more than vessels bridge. So, might have come in at perhaps one-half it's draft. At 5:17 it appears to have capsized far as it could go. Ferry craft are mostly weatherdeck, being a river vessel, probably flat bottomed too. If salvaged, they'd have sealed hull and pumped out, the super structure probably doesn't have many watertight compartments.

Along with a fatalistic religious belief system that dictates it's their deities will if they live or die.

Should have unloaded all vehicles on the low side (port? Hard to tell with ferrys) to try to right the boat first
