Fly cutting is accurate description, a different tool would be face milling. Positive a hold down bolt in the post stacked on 1-2-3 blocks, NO WAY end clamp would be stable. They've run RPM lower with rather aggressive feed rate from normal fly cutting tuning out chatter. When you hear squeaks or dragging, that signifies a cut isn't happening.
Doing good job with just one bit. My attempts would pair a leading chamfered bit with a slightly lowered sharp corner.
