This is a normal assembly. Notice how close the tire rim is to a mechanical part.
Then there is a brief puff of smoke.
Compare to the top picture. The tire is still parallel to the alignment of the car but the entire assembly has moved 75-100 mm away from everything. The tire is still intact at this point!
Milliseconds later the tire assembly starts pointing to the right (as shown in another post) and the scrubbing destroys the tire. You need to single-step through the sequence or slow down the video to 25%. I am assuming the camera frame speed is either 24 or 32 FPS so one frame can only capture about .033 seconds. The destruction took place in 2 or 3 frames so a lot of information is missing. It is true that tire failures occurred 59 laps later on race worn and abused tires but Danny's tires only had 13 laps on them. I am hesitant to jump to the conclusion the tire is at fault in Danny's case.
