This 30x46 shop was designed and built by Tylerb43 on GarageJournal.com.

The build thread starts off like many, by recounting the builder's dream:

"I've been dreaming about my own shop since I was 15 working on my truck in the parent's driveway."

Then it quickly gets down to the nitty gritty:

-30x46 stick-framed on full frost-walls and footings.
-Hip roof structure with attic trusses for storage room.
-12x26 lean-to off the back, for the tractor and lawn equipment.
-One 16x30 room with a 2-post lift, and another 30x30 room.
-Three 10x9 overhead doors.
-A/C and heat.

The goodies:
-White metal ceiling.
-Vinyl curtain to partition clean/dirty areas.
-Tailgate bench.
-Motor-operated hinged stairs for attic access.
-Custom workbenches covered in 60-year-old 1" maple from a high school gymnasium floor.

No matter how large your shop, like a safe, you will always wish it was larger. The builder agrees:

"I've wished several times that the shop was twice the size it is, but don't we all."
