Gloster Meteor F8 WK935, a one-off variant of the fighter aircraft with prone position cockpit. It was used to evaluate the advantages of the airframe design, thought to reduced drag and allow the aircrew to sustain higher G-forces.

After reviewing the plans for Jack Northrop's XP-79, I believe a USAF General was quoted as saying something to the effect that, "No American Pilot is going to war flying on his stomach!", even though it is a preferred orientation for supersonic maneuvers. Northrop was always decades ahead of the others.
