Not sure which children's care center came up with the system, it seems to be widely shared between the Shriners for children the Boston children's hospital and Johns Hopkins. Apparently is caught early enough the most severe effects of scoliosis can be adverted and much of the spinal curvature can be straightened. From what I just read the consensus is there is no positive cure, and many children will require further surgeries to prevent its worsening later in life. the halo brace can be used in adults to assist in repairing upper spinal injuries with the addition of a vest and tension rods to immobilize the head while gently stretching and allowing the compressed vertebrae/s to heal.
