Continuing in my engraving tools series, here is a couple of little hand chisels for engraving :
I don't know if there is a precise technical name for this tool (please Ken, correct).
In French, there is one, it is an "échoppe".
I made them out of Cherry for the handle, and HSS jig saw blades reground.

Notice the flat part on the handle, it prevents the tool from rolling on the table, but also serves as an index while the tool is hold in the hand :

Two different shapening, one on the left has a "fingernail" shape and the other has a V shape.

Here is how it should be used, the thumb is always used towards the workpiece to provide control and avoid any big scratch across the surface :flame:

Of course, this is theory, and I am far from being skilled enough to provide any advice about how to use it, I just read a lot about engraving :rolleyes:
