Lots of car guys hereabouts, myself included. I agree completely that cars (and planes, for that matter) are meant to be used. There's little sadder to me than a perfectly restored car/bike/plane that just sits in its garage/hangar/museum gathering dust. Much better to be run and enjoyed, in the process of which it can be shown to the next generation as a living machine in its natural habitat. A Corsair sitting under ⅛" of dust is just depressing. Contrast that with the visceral feeling of standing at the side of a runway while a Corsair rips past at 100' and 300+ knots. Likewise, the feelings evoked by vintage and classic auto racing events. Anyway, I'm with you on the "rock chips" thing…
