Thanks, Frank. An old Aussie saying, now rarely heard as not PC, I must have run over a Chinaman...(bad luck). Cellulitus and swelling in foot led to diagnosis of PAD (2 angioplasties).
Regular cardiologist notified, if Jim is plugged up in leg, his heart is as well...so CT angiogram and then catheter angiogram w/coronary stents placed...and now the colonoscopy...a lifetimes (69) worth of maintenance in 5 months. Oh well, that's what insurance and our single payer healthcare is for. I'd hate to drop off without getting my 2 bobs worth! Thanks for your thoughts.
    Jim

It's perplexing why decent folks have such issues; and the neer-do-wells just skate along.
I'm sure we all wish you the best possible outcome.

Thanks mate. It's good to fix the problems BEFORE you 'fall down' and get carted off for emergency surgery.
These sort of procedures are termed 'elective surgeries' here in AUS. Fully paid for in the public system, but subject to waiting lists based on need and theatre availability. In a private hospital with private health insurance (me), most ANY procedure can be done within a week with reasonable co-pays for surgeon and anesthetist fees. The hospital costs are fully covered. Two leg angioplasties, one stent placed, $2500 out of pocket. Two cardiac angiogram/3 stent placement, $600 out of pocket. The colonoscopy is at this public hospital $0 out of pocket...normally a public colonoscopy would be a 3-4 week wait based on need, but my rectal bleed allowed me to jump the queue...and the Drs are good and the nurses fantastic. The food is heaps better in the privates, but I'm not starving here.
Thanks to all for support, and do the right thing by yourself and families...don't put this schytte off! Cheers
    Jim
