Very clever idea and what a great way to repurpose something no longer being used. I would like to plagiarize your idea and incorporate it into my tapping pillar, a much better and easier way of securing the tap. I have a commercially mfd. hand taper and the method used to secure the taps is a real pain. The holders are not easily removed from the tap handle and the spring detent keeps falling on the shop floor. Your design looks to be a significant improvement.
