    Making a stand

    In this video.

I will make a sturdy stand using steel.

This one was made for a rr-track anvil, but it can be used for a bench vise, drill press or something like that too.

Idea on the design is that height can be set suitable for the owner. Also its easy to take a part for the delivery.

Space under the mounting plate can be filled with
sand / steel.. To dampen the noise, or gain more weight to it.

If this would have been for my use, i would have used rivets instead of bolt connections.

Also, it has nice room for the legvise too, beside the anvil.

Frank S and I have batted about various fillers as you Tuomas; the conclusion is against mixed concrete though raw cement is ok. Concrete would shrink and loosen, but minimized by taper, smaller at the top. Sand lightly saturated with oil was arrived at, being most available and easily dispensed. Sand, oil and scrap would get higher weight yet per cube, without settling or voids.

I planned that using rough sand could be good for this.
I didn't make any bigger testing, but my thoughts we're that sand could possible reduce recoil. Like in deadplow hammer. So, it shouldn't be filled full.

Someday i make another one to myself too. Then i can say is there difference.

Dry beach type sand will dead blow even if full, not pounded in perhaps, just topped off then damp with oil. It settles and xx-viola-xx; voila!
Thinking not possible to hit an anvil/ stand hard enough to encourage any degree of rebound. The loose dead weight isn't solid, so is difficult for it to vibrate.

Yep. Anvil or stand has no recoil. But sometimes floor or ground has.
I tried this on top of wooden deck, and sand really helped and reduced bouncing. I don't know if it matters on use, but it doesn't do harm either.

I'll be back when i have done my own version.
    This one is now shipped.
