Hello my name is Elias and i have built a metal lathe. This project took very long time to make but is finally done.

Clever use of a chain and sprocket "leadscrew"!
Feel free to add info on the machine and your method for producing it!
BTW: Are you a fellow electrician, per chance?
Not many here at the forum feel comfy about hooking up 400VAC 3-phase like that.

This pretty much proves that a DIY machine can indeed work. Further this is a great alternative to the popular Gingery approach to DIY lathes.
Nicely done I would be intersted to know how you controlled or compensated for warpage that inevitably comes from arc welding. thanks for sharing.

Nice! I homemade an Yeoman's Lathe myself. I like it, it works well enough when it does work. My problem is the thing is constantly breaking in some fashion or another. It drives me nuts! I'll get a few hours of perfect operation then something will break. I'll patch it up and get another day or three out of it until something major breaks and takes it out of commission for a while.
You'll have to report back in a few months and let us know how reliable it has turned out. Knowing what I know now I would have gone and sweet talked someone at a local scrap yard to let me know when an old discarded metal lathe came in I could buy on the cheap.
