My guess is they're making parts for furniture. Tapered spindle legs with cross-drilled holes for braces/stool foot rests, etc. Can't explain the octagonal (?) bit and the ring but I can envision furniture designs that might make use of same.

It's curious that on the wide paint brush handle routing machine they are doing a conventional cut (cutter running against the rotation fo the tool).
You can even see the handle splinter on the outfeed end of one of the cuts.
The two-sided copy-shaper shown in the last video is climb-cutting both sides (one spindle is running in left hand rotation).
Having been a woodworking engineer for 20 years, I notice these things...
