How do you know you are exactly at center, just by eye?

Yes, just by eye. Believe me, it's not hard!

Not hard but not exact, I am just trying to sharpen drill bits and notice that I can easily grind too much off a side and not notice until I try the drill on metal and then it extremely wanders. For drilling wood I can see where it might not matter.

Interesting approach. I especially like the long point which should make hitting the target cross much easier. With conventional spur bits I often have to get my eyes down to bit level just to see where the sharp point will start, this design eliminates that issue.

The Kreg Pocket Hole wood bit has a pointed center. I wondered how to sharpened them. Now I ha a good idea of what to do. I was always concerned
    about centering the point.
