I've been using Acrylic plastic dissolved in Acetone for years to repair compatible objects. Switches, car dashboard parts, tool handles etc.
Xylene is on a restricted list here so not available to the public,(part of the communist lockdown and privations of todays world),but paint thinners containing Xylene are available. Very useful for thinning 'Shoe Goo' which gives a soft handle.
