Very nice idea. I purchased a miter saw about 1 year ago and it does not cut angles correctly. If I make cuts with the right side only all the joints are square. If I use left and right they do not mate. My back stop plate is warped. I was going to make one anyway. This should work for me. Thanks. Mr. Mikey.

You should be able to bend your fence so it is straight. Most all tools need to be "tuned up" in order to cut square and perpendicular. There are adjustments for fine tuning all of the angles on most saws.

I could probably get just over 10" of cut on my 12: proshop miter saw if I needed by using your idea. But I currently only use it to cut 6" wide aluminum trailer planking.
Good to know if need be there is a super simple solution, thanks.
Never try to tell me it can't be done
When I have to paint I use KBS products
