I can see where these would save a lot of property, being able to extinguish and break-down Alpha class conflagrations. This would save lives, even if only to keep egress points open. Seems infrared can direct available pressure exactly where needed first, saving fusible heads in a standby mode. Every system has a limit of capacity; pump stations, branch lines and smaller zones.
When it comes to structures, life preservation is a concern of fire departments, like in office buildings. Structures like parking garages worry insurance companies. Both utilize sprinklers, but different goal.
