    I remember being the kid on the wagon (2 of us at a time) getting paid 50 cents an hour. 60ish years ago.

    Yeah, Me too but I didn't get 50 cents an hour. Instead my mom and dad gave me room and board.

    You can dress in shorts and short sleeves for straw bales. You can't do that for hay.

    we got 2cents a bale unless you were the driver then you received a penny. My 10-year-old cousin never complained though because he felt at least he could do something to earn money. 4 boys can haul and stack a lot of 50 to 70 lb. bales from sunup to too dark to see. Never tight stack fresh alfalfa in a barn if you expect it to still be there in a couple of days.

    Don't feed alfalfa to your horse unless you want him to give you a good buck and run, either.
