    Intro

    Live in west Texas, am a cowboy action shooter but not very fast but sure do enjoy it. Really enjoy doing all kinds of gun work and sometime build furniture when my wife can get me to do it

    Working on a saddle stand with a hold down for a friend who's a leathersmith by hobby but very good at it

    That's a great hobby! I did a fair amount of 3-gun years ago and have been thinking about getting into cowboy action though I'm still in procrastination mode. Lots of new stuff to buy…

    What sort of gunsmithing are you doing? If you have any pics of your work, we'd love to see 'em.

    Action jobs, cartridge conversions on cap & ball pistols. My boys and I have been building some ar's with 80% lowers, those have been fun. Don't know how to post pics but will get one of the grandkids to show me. Lol

    I've been thinking about trying one of those 80% lowers myself. Do you need a mill to finish it, or will a drill press suffice?

    drill press works fine. takes about 2 1/2 hours to do one

    drill press works fine. takes about 2 1/2 hours to do one. the trick to them is to get a good jig. seems like the more guide holes in the jig the better
