When I put a taper attachment on my lathe, it had the thrust bearing assembly mounted at the end of the existing screw and fixed to the apron. This was removed, and the attachment then had a new thrust bearing as part of the push pull taper attachment slide assembly. Appears you remade the original piece.
I'll second that "things are more in the way". I thought when I purchased the kit, it would be used more then the one time so far.
