Inertia. Depending on how it was parked, and the fact that tire was flat, that corner of the car was "unloaded". I think we are looking at the right rear. Most of the weight was on the left rear and right front. Typically more weight is on the front wheels, so the left front on the opposite corner was unloading that flat rear tire. That is why it did not look so squished as it might have.
If the tire had been loaded, he would not have been able to pull it off the lugs with one hand.
